Staying healthy has always been a personal goal of mine. Just like most, it comes and goes. I go a few months pretty consistently, then the next few months are more sporadic. It’s just so hard to stay motivated, right? Well, problem solved! I’ve found 4 really cool ways to help you get paid to hit your fitness goals!
Get Paid to Run
Runbet is out to make running a habit. They’ve designed a running program that will pay you in actual money, not just gift cards! They’ll tell you, “It’s a running club, a virtual race, and a training program all in one.” Anyone at any level can join.
When you start, you choose a game. There are different programs for different skill levels. Games vary in length depending on the individual game’s rules. During the course of the game, players must complete all of their required runs according to the run schedule. Each game has an entry fee, or “bet”. The bets vary based on the game, $20, $30, $40 and so on.
You can run either indoors on a treadmill, or outdoors. No elliptical, bikes, etc. Each game has a referee that makes sure the rules are being followed. When you use a treadmill, they require pictures to verify. They also have “anti-cheating algorithms” that help monitor “cheating like activities”.
At the end, those who finished the game and completed all of their required runs split the pot. The less amount of people that finish, the higher your winnings. If everyone finishes, you simply get your money back. Runbet takes a 25% cut of your winnings. if everyone wins, they forfeit their fee.
Your winnings are deposited as points that can either be used for future games, or transferred to a PayPal account.
This one I find really cool. It’s simple and very creative. It also connects to a PayPal account.
Runister is a free app that pays out 8 cents per mile and is for outdoor running only. You are guided by a progress bar on the home screen of the app that lets you know how far you’ve run. After each run, you’ll be asked a series of simple questions in a survey. The more questions you answer, the more “rewarded runs” you’ll get.
The entire thing is funded by these surveys. They batch your answers only by gender, age and country..and then they sell them! Companies pay good money to survey healthy individuals.
If you don’t want to answer the questions, you can also pay $4.99 a month for Runister Plus and get the same pay out.
Get Paid to Lose Weight
With Healthy Wage, you could win up to $10,000! If that does make you want to get paid to hit your fitness goals, I don’t know what will. Believe me, this one is legit.
There are three ways to play. There is the corporate challenge, where you and your co-workers can create a company program, a personal bet where you bet on yourself, or a team challenge. I’ll focus on the last two today…
The personal bet starts you off with a calculator. You don’t even need to sign up to find out how much money you could earn. Simply enter how much weight you want to lose, how long you want it to take (6-18 months) and how much you want to wager each month. Step 2 will ask for your gender, height, weight and finally your email address for the exact prize. If you don’t reach your goal, you forfeit your wager.
The team challenge is the one that has a $10,000 grand prize. You build a team of 5, each of which pay $25 a month for 3 months. The team that loses the highest percentage, is the winner! If you continue with your program, and maintain your weight for 6 months, you get your entry fee back.
Dietbet is from the same company as Runbet, but it focuses on weight-loss. Simply go to the website, and pick which game you want to join. You can see right from the home screen how much the pot is up to. You place a bet on yourself, just like all the others. At the end, those who reached the goal, split the forfeited bets of those who didn’t reach the goal.
There are three different games to choose from.”Kickstarter” has a goal of losing 4% body fat in 4 months. “Transformer” is 10% in 6 months and “Maintainer” keeps it off for 12 months. The entry fee is somewhere around $25 – $35 per person. One game on their website as of today also gives you a chance to win a Peloton Bike!
Most of these programs are similar in that you are “betting” on yourself. While they call it a bet, you are in complete control of whether or not you get your money back. For those of you who find motivation in money, these are great options. You have to put some skin in the game of course, but that’s what makes it fun!
Fitness and health are goals, but also a “need” in some way. The cost of not taking care of yourself can be tremendous. You can take advantage of any one of these programs and not only reach your fitness goals, but also make some money doing it!
